Dr. Shevitz is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is a Distinguished Life Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association. He served as the Interim Chair for the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior, was a Professor of Psychiatry, and Director of Psychiatric Training with the Medical College of Georgia. His experience includes working with adult and senior adult patients who are in need of treatment for a variety of mental health disorders such as mood disorder, depression, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, grief and loss, and other psychiatric issues.

Dr. Shevitz uses a bio-psycho-social approach for evaluation and treatment. He takes a detailed history of past treatment including what has worked for the individual and what has not. He provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and medication management. His patients agree that Dr. Shevitz is kind and calm as well as a great listener.
