Sheila Dunn

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 6+ years of critical care experience from working in the Intensive Care Unit. It is there, where I discovered my interest in psychiatry and realized just how under-served the mental health population is. My compassion for others coupled with my interest in psychiatry is what prompted me to pursue my degree as a nurse practitioner. My goal is get patients back to living life the way they did before they were affected by mental illness.

I am able to do psychotherapy as well as manage medications. I have a firm belief that psychotherapy is just as important as medication management to maximize recovery of mental health disorders, just as therapy is with any other health condition. Psychotherapy is rehab for the brain just as cardiac rehab is rehab for the heart.

I am accepting new clients ages 6+ with a wide range of mental health conditions including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and adjustment disorders. Together, my patient’s and I will come up with a treatment plan that best meets his/her individual needs and gets him/her back to the life he/she once enjoyed.

Thank you for considering to work with me as your physician. I opened my private practice clinic because I wanted to create a safe, comfortable space where my patients are always valued and respected, where your most private concerns can be expressed without judgment or stigma. In addition to a calming, friendly environment, I also offer excellent medical knowledge and clinical judgment. In psychiatry residency at the University of California, San Diego, I ranked #1 of 58 residents by exam scores.

I’m a specialist in psychopharmacology and prescribe psychiatric medication for a wide range of mental health disorders. Reach out to me to schedule a 60-80 minute psychiatric intake interview, after which we’ll design a personalized treatment plan together. I also have specialized training in OCD, PTSD, and Peripartum Mental Health.

I approach the practice of medicine via the collaborative or “teamwork” model – under which the patient contributes his or her own values and goals for treatment, and I provide the medical knowledge, experience, and guidance to help you achieve your desired outcome. Together, we formulate a treatment plan to provide relief from mental health problems.

SohoMD offers online sessions with board-certified clinicians to evaluate, diagnose, and treat Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD. Our teletherapy and telepsychiatry services make appointments easy. All you need is a smartphone to access our therapist or prescribers. We are in-network with Cigna and Optum insurances but please be advised that we require all our patients to be frequently seen especially during the first month to customize your care for success.

SohoMD is not a good fit if you suffer from bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or have a substance abuse problem. If you have a history of psychiatric hospitalization, participated or been referred to a DBT program you will need a higher level of care than what we have available at SohoMD. SohoMD clinicians do not prescribe any Benzodiazepine medications.

Be aware that certain treatments require an in-person visit with a prescriber. In most cases, medications are prescribed electronically and ready for you at your local pharmacy. Remember, SohoMD is a good fit if you suffer from anxiety, depression, or ADHD.

Susan Lachs

Your story and your struggles are unique to you. Media and family often put expectations on us that do not align with what is best for our authentic self. Family conflict, anxiety, depression, substance use, and unhealthy relationships – with ourselves and others – can be the result of these pressures. There is no one size fits all for therapy and together we will work to understand you through different perspectives and modalities, including prescribing medication if indicated, always with the goal of helping you make changes that will stick and you feel good about.

I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, treating individuals with emotional difficulties, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and substance abuse. I specialize in medication management and psychotherapy as well as an integrative and holistic perspective to helping you obtain mental wellness and well being.

My passion is helping children, adolescents, and adults find satisfying, meaningful relationships with themselves and those important to them so they can feel connected and whole.

Life is far from perfect. Everyone experiences loss, unforeseen change, and anxiety provoking stress. When these stresses become so powerful that they interfere with our work, self-care, or relationships, it is important to remember that we are not alone and help is available. With bravery, you can seek help and begin to heal. My goal is to help those who are facing these difficulties. I received my psychiatric training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Adult Psychiatry. With this experience, I am able to diagnose and treat a broad range of psychiatric illnesses, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.

Although diagnosing a psychiatric illness is helpful to determine if medication is appropriate, developing a deeper understanding of a person, their life experiences, personality, and routine behaviors is essential for comprehensive treatment.

With acceptance and listening, I develop an understanding that goes beyond a diagnosis and work towards an individualized treatment.

Christopher Garrity

I understand how different medications work in your body and look at your mental health, physical health and social health together. I see patients with depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder & patients on the autism spectrum.

Some people know exactly how they feel and what is going on. Some people may struggle with how to describe how they feel but know something is wrong. If you are new to medications or simply cannot find one that works, I’m here to help guide you.

My work centers around helping children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, other behavior disorders, psychotic disorders, school and peer issues, and family conflict. However, I’m available for consultation and treatment regarding treatment for adults and treatment of other issues if I’m able to meet the client and family’s needs.

I’ve worked in different health systems and agencies as well as at different levels of care, such as inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, and community mental health. In 2014, I was featured in SJ Magazine as one of New Jersey’s top psychiatrists. I have experience working with adults as well as adolescents suffering from both psychiatric diagnosis and substance use disorders and have extensive experience working in both out-patient and in-patient settings.

I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during my residency program and I use it to support each client I see. My goal is to provide a safe environment for each person I treat while individualizing a medication and therapy plan that suits their needs.

I am proud to be in network with most major insurances including BCBS, Aetna, etc. and accepting new patients.

I am psychiatric nurse practitioner with a doctor of nursing practice degree, board-certified in psychiatry and mental health. I take a holistic approach to care by incorporating psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and prescribing mental health medications if indicated, for adults, adolescents, and school-aged children. Treatment I provide is personalized, comprehensive and includes addressing trauma, relationship concerns, spiritual troubles and boundaries.
